Thoughts on UFC 87: Search and Destroy - Spoilers

If you haven't seen UFC 87 yet, don't read this post. It contains spoilers.

Here's a NSFA (Not safe for ANYONE!) picture of the oh-so-sexy Bea Arthur so you won't accidentaly read something about the PPV.

Got Milk?

Still here? Good.

I watched the UFC 87 PPV live on pay-per-view with a few friends at a pub tonight. I have a few friends who are die hard hardcore MMA fans, and one of them happens to own a pub here in Stockholm. He knows a few things and to our astonishment he can order PPV's via England here in Sweden.

I was interested in this PPV because of Brock Lesnar.

Got Juice?*

* Actually, I doubt he's juicing since he was born 6'5. 235 lbs. Whatever.

The former Wrestler Sports Entertainer (well EXCUUUUSE MEEEE for calling it wrestling) is giving it a go in the MMA world.

He lost his UFC Debut when due to inexperience he tapped out when Mir applied a kneebar early in the first round.

Brock had learned from his past mistakes in this match as he dominated his opponent Heath Herring. He started the match by landing a punch to Herrings face that was so vicious Herring literally flipped backwards due to the impact. After that Brock was all over Herring dominating him on the mat. He basically sat on Herring the rest of the match, hitting a few punches and some vicious knees to the ribs, but nothing as spectacular as the first punch.

The replay of the first punch reminded me a lot of the superpunch Neo gave Mr. Smith in The third Matrix film. If you ever watch the replay you'll know what I mean.

Although Lesnar failed to finish Herring with a knockout, its scary how much he improved from his debut. He was so patient and in control with his mat performance that I'm sure we're looking at the future UFC Heavyweight Champion. I doubt he'll get a championship match for another year, but when he gets more experience he'll prove everyone who thought the fake wrestler would ridicule the sport wrong.

At the press conference after the match Lesnar actually said that he would have chosen MMA instead of wrestling efter his collegiate wrestling career had UFC been more established by then. He only chose wrestling because his size and athletic abilities would earn him top dollars. Make no mistake, Lesnar is extremely talented and the friggin' speed this huge man has is scary.

Match rating: **3/4
