O'Sullivan to Blues - It Ain't happening.

Hockeybuzz is reporting that the Blues are interested in Patrick O'Sullivan.

"Another hot rumour that I am looking into has the Blues making a serious pitch for Patrick O'Sullivan out of LA. The Kings want an "d-man of equal value."

It ain't happening. The Kings want an "d-man of equal value." That puts the Blues out of it right there. Who do we have except Erik Johnson and Alex Pietrangelo? Eric Brewer? Jay McKee? Barret Jackman?

The Blues aren't trading Johnson or Pietrangelo no matter what comes along. Ok, a superstar for one of them might do the trick. And no offense to Patrick O'Sullivan, but he's not a superstar yet. He could get there, and he probably will, but he's not quite there.

Some people will say that Erik Johnson is no superstar either. And they are correct. But I'm not the only one who sees the enormous potential in him. There's a pretty good chance that he'll turn into a top-tier defensman rather than a Mike Rathje type defensman.

If Johnson's potential was limited to becoming the next Mike Rathje, I'd do the deal as O'sullivan has 70-80 point potential. But if he turns out to be a Niedermayer/Boyle/Zubov-type defensman then I wouldn't do the trade.

Then again, it's fucking Eklund who's reporting this. Why do I even bother?
