...The Oilers make Bowman looks happy, Kevin Lowe looks not so happy. I'm not sure why this move was made but it seems a bit odd to say the least. I have no idea what's been going on behind the scenes in Edmonton but from what Ive read over at a few blogs neither to Oilers-fans. It's 4.46 AM in Sweden so I'll update more during the day.
UPDATE: I still have no idea what the hell just happened in Edmonton. But their current setup looks a lot like the Blues setup right now with John Davidson/Pleau/Armstrong. Pleau and Armstrong are the GM's, but Davidson is at the top of the hierarchy. Other than that I'm at a loss for words. It could work.

Simple answer: New ownership = new money and new structure.
Lowe has been steering a lean ship with meager means for 8 years. It is a split in duties and this move addresses the loss of Assistant GM Scott Howson (left to Columbus last year).
Bowman must've gotten a hell of a payday to come back out of his so-called retirement. Can the 'hawks really be on the road back after so many eons in the wilderness??
I just read that Bowman's son works with the Blackhawks. Family is the reason, though I do bet he probably got some good dough too.
